Chris Affleck, the mother of Academy Award-winning actors Ben and Casey Affleck, has died at the age of 83.
She passed away on June 2 at her son's home after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to official records.

A death certificate obtained by Us Weekly listed cardiopulmonary arrest as the immediate cause of death, with pancreatic adenocarcinoma as an underlying condition.
No autopsy was performed, and her remains were taken to Earth Funeral Home in Las Vegas.
She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2025 and was given about six months to live, as stated in a family obituary published in The Boston Globe.
Just two days before her death, on May 31, 2026, she attended her grandson Samuel's middle school graduation.
"Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school," the family said in the obituary.

"She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. She died peacefully, in her sleep, two days later."
Chris Affleck was a Harvard University-educated public school teacher who taught for more than three decades until her retirement in 2008.
She was also a lifelong activist, teaching literacy during Freedom Summer in Mississippi, volunteering for Barack Obama's presidential campaign, and founding the Sustainable Cape project in Truro, Massachusetts.
Her family noted that her five grandchildren were her main inspiration in her final years, describing them as "the animating force of her last two decades" in the obituary.

Ben Affleck previously acknowledged both his mother and ex-wife Jennifer Garner in a social media post, calling them "the two incredible mothers who have shown me the meaning of love."
