Tiggy Walker, the widow of late BBC Radio 2 DJ Johnnie Walker, has released a video showing her husband's health decline to advocate for social care reform.
The footage, recorded nine months before his death in December 2024, captures the veteran broadcaster in a wheelchair and on oxygen as he battled terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Walker described her experience as his sole full-time caregiver during his final years, detailing the physical and emotional toll of managing his medical needs and household duties.
"This was my late husband – Johnnie Walker (as in Radio 2) – 9 months before he died. So still in 'good shape' compared with the end," she wrote.
She highlighted the intense pressure faced by family members caring for terminally ill loved ones without sufficient institutional support.
"I was his sole carer. It was the most challenging year of my life.
From dressing and bathing him, to making sure he was plugged into oxygen, emptying the commode and pee bottles and managing all medical matters, to being constantly stressed about his condition," she wrote.
Walker noted that caregiving left no time for her professional life or personal well-being, even while she assisted him with his radio shows from home.
"That's on top of running the home and supporting him with his radio shows. I had no time for me or my career," she wrote.
She publicly thanked Prime Minister Andy Burnham for prioritizing social care restructuring and urged lawmakers to implement policy changes.
