A recent YouGov poll found that 48% of voters back Andy Burnham's proposal to scale back the pensions triple lock to finance social care reform, compared with 28% who oppose it.

The proposal was presented alongside major health policy announcements at the Labour Party conference.

Health Secretary Yvette Cooper announced a Sure Start-style Healthy Babies program for every local authority in England.

The initiative aims to bring specialized health services back into family centers, reaching up to 1,000 hubs over the next two years.

Addressing delegates at the Labour conference, Cooper outlined the renewed health services.

"Since the election, Bridget Phillipson and Lucy Powell have been working to rebuild family hubs across the country, bringing back support for parents and for young children.

But something is missing," Cooper said.

"In half of communities, compared to the last time round, the healthy babies services – mental health support for mums and dads, the feeding and bonding support for your new baby."

"That changes now. I can announce we will bring back the Sure Start health services into every family centre.

Reaching up to 1,000 hubs over the next two years."

"One of the Labour party’s greatest achievements restored to families throughout the land. So listen to that, George Osborne – Sure Start’s back."

Cooper's remarks directly referenced former Conservative Chancellor George Osborne, who previously cut funding for the Sure Start program that Cooper helped establish as a junior minister under the Blair administration.

An Institute for Fiscal Studies report indicated that every £1 spent on Sure Start eventually generates roughly £11 in benefits for participating children.

Meanwhile, Andy Burnham discussed potential future relationship models between the United Kingdom and the European Union during an appearance on the Today program.

"We could stay as we are. That’s definitely an option, if people think this is the right place to stay.

We could look at what [former Conservative chancellor] George Osborne has said about a customs union, we could look at what the Liberal Democrats said at their conference about the single market or we could go all the way," Burnham said.

"There are clearly options that need to be considered, and we have to look at what is doable and what would be the pros and cons of each."

The conference schedule concludes with speeches from four cabinet ministers, including Deputy Leader Lucy Powell delivering the final address.
