Traffic is easing along the M60 motorway clockwise near Manchester on Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026, after a vehicle crash temporarily forced the closure of two lanes near junction five for Princess Parkway.
According to traffic alert service Inrix, lanes one and two were shut off as long queues built up toward the incident.

Emergency responders reopened all lanes around 8:10 a. m.
, allowing heavy residual traffic to gradually clear.
Earlier Multi-Vehicle Collision on Monday
The incident follows a separate multi-vehicle collision on the same motorway stretch days earlier. On Monday, July 27, a four-vehicle crash occurred at around 6:55 a.
m. between junction 16 at Pendlebury and junction 17 at Prestwich and Whitefield.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two fire engines from Blackley and Broughton to secure the area alongside Greater Manchester Police.

Emergency crews remained at the scene for approximately 30 minutes, confirming no injuries were reported.
"At around 6.55am on Monday, July 27, two fire engines from Blackley and Broughton fire stations were called to attend a road traffic collision involving four vehicles on the M60 between junctions 16 and 17," said a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters collaborated with law enforcement to manage the situation safely before clearing the carriageway. "Crews arrived quickly and made the area safe, alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police.
Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes," added the spokesperson.

The Monday collision initially halted all traffic for roughly 20 minutes and triggered tailbacks extending four miles toward junction 12, causing travel delays of up to 35 minutes before National Highways fully restored normal lane access.
