The win helped Boston bounce back immediately after their 10-game road winning streak ended the previous night.

Monasterio and Caleb Durbin each collected three hits, while Jahmal Jones also homered to power the offense.
With Romy Gonzalez starting at second base in the extra frame, Monasterio sent a 2-0 fastball from reliever Jose Suarez over the fence to break a 2-2 tie.
Suarez took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season.
Oakland had taken a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when Lawrence Butler launched a solo home run off Boston starter Patrick Sandoval to deep center field.
It was Butler's sixth homer of the season and his first since June 19.
Jonah Heim also contributed for the Athletics with three hits, including a solo home run that marked the 500th hit of his career.

Boston tied the game in the sixth inning with an unearned run off Athletics starter Jacob Lopez.
After Oakland third baseman Tommy White dropped a foul ball, Durbin singled to open the frame and later scored on a two-out single from Nick Sogard.
Sandoval allowed two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. He remains winless since returning from 2024 Tommy John surgery.
Reliever Aroldis Chapman earned the win in his 900th career appearance after retiring three consecutive batters in the ninth inning.
Greg Weissert pitched a perfect 10th inning to earn his first save of the season.

The series concludes on Thursday, with Boston sending right-hander Sonny Gray to the mound against an unannounced starter for Oakland.
