Evacuation alerts were issued on July 29 for properties near Logan Lake, British Columbia, as the Guichon Creek wildfire expanded to 88 hectares and remained out of control.
The fire was first detected shortly after 2:00 p. m.

near Guichon Creek and Highway 97C, about 45 to 50 kilometers north of Merritt.
It quickly grew from earlier estimates of 10 and 15 hectares to 88 hectares by the evening.
According to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), the wildfire exhibited Rank 3 to 4 behavior, meaning it has an organized flame front, a moderate rate of spread, and short-range spotting.
Twenty-four firefighters, along with helicopters and the Logan Lake Fire Department, are actively working to contain the blaze.
Evacuation Alerts and Preparedness
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) issued evacuation alerts for approximately seven properties along Tunkwa Lake Road in Electoral Area 'J' (Copper Desert Country).
The District of Logan Lake also issued alerts affecting acreages around Ard Righ Road.

Residents in the evacuation alert zones were advised to prepare to leave on short notice and to have essential items ready for immediate evacuation.
The TNRD urged residents to create plans for family members, pets, and livestock, and to arrange accommodations and transportation in advance.
"The fire is currently burning Rank 3 and 4 fire behaviour meaning a fire with an organized flame front, moderate rate of spread, and short-range spotting," said BC Wildfire Service.
Logan Lake Fire Department has been actively responding on site alongside BCWS personnel, adding critical support to the firefighting efforts.
The wildfire is suspected to be human-caused and remains out of control as crews continue their efforts.
