Former Home Improvement stars Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Patricia Richardson, and Taran Noah Smith reunited in a rare public appearance on July 29, 2026.
Richardson, who played matriarch Jill Taylor, shared an Instagram photo of the trio, captioning it "My other boys ❤️."

Thomas, now 44, and Smith, 42, portrayed her sons on the hit sitcom that aired from 1991 to 1999.
Thomas on Leaving Hollywood
Thomas stepped away from acting before the show's final season to pursue education. He briefly returned in the 2010s for guest roles on Tim Allen's Last Man Standing.
"I'd been going nonstop since I was 8 years old. I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break," Thomas said.
He described sitting in a library among students as a "novel experience."
Reflecting on his decision, Thomas said: "I made such a good decision." He added that balancing academics and acting would have been overwhelming.

Richardson noted in a 2024 podcast that Thomas now focuses on writing and directing, while Smith left acting entirely.
Reunion Prospects
Tim Allen addressed a potential full cast reunion in June 2025, calling it "a possibility." He recalled Thomas visiting his set, saying, "He's literally my kid.
I raised that kid for eight years on Home Improvement."
However, Allen cited "personality problems" among the former child actors as a hurdle to a reboot. "They've got their own issues," he said.

Thomas, who keeps a private life, said he has "no regrets" about leaving fame behind. He enjoys hiking, watching movies, and staying up on shows and theater.
