ScotRail has apologized after the launch of its new ticket booking app caused widespread disruption on Thursday morning, leaving hundreds of passengers unable to buy train tickets.
The operator replaced its previous system with the new platform, but users encountered multiple problems, including mandatory password resets and missing train journeys in search results.
Frustrated passengers took to social media to criticize the rollout, describing it as a "shambles" and "nonsense."
ScotRail advised customers to continue using the old app until midday, but many reported difficulties accessing it.
Issues with the New App
Problems included the inability to link railcards, difficulty installing the new app, and missing stations such as Wick from the search options.
Some users also experienced delays in receiving password reset emails.
Even after successfully logging in, several passengers found that train journeys did not appear in the new app or on the ScotRail website booking system.
In a statement, ScotRail said: "We're sorry for the delay to anyone switching their ScotRail app today."
The company added: "We are working with our technical teams to clear this as quickly as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience."
