Publix has issued a voluntary recall for select organic frozen blueberries and mixed berries across eight states after federal health officials linked the products to an E.
coli outbreak.
The recall, announced on July 29, 2026, affects GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries and GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries in 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages.
These products were distributed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Outbreak Details
Federal health officials reported that twelve individuals have fallen ill and four have been hospitalized during the outbreak.
Confirmed cases are limited to Florida and Georgia, including one sickened individual in Georgia.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that the issue stems from an earlier July 3 recall by supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.
A. of Chilean organic blueberries.
Investigations raised concerns about lot code 6 040 01 with a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028.
As of the end of June 2026, Publix immediately conducted an internal stop sale of frozen GreenWise organic whole blueberries and whole mixed berries.
These products remain unavailable for sale, according to the FDA.
Retailers and health agencies urge consumers who bought the recalled berries not to eat them.
Customers are advised to discard the products or return them to any Publix location for a full refund.
