Smart is taking a creative approach to tease its upcoming electric city car, the #2.
The model, which serves as the successor to the ForTwo, has been previewed through murals displayed in cities around the world.

The murals have appeared in Berlin, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Paris, and Shanghai.
They were created in collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz design team and local artists, including Martín Ron, Georgia Laurie, Zhu Bin, and the group Parents Parents.
The production version of the #2 closely follows the design of the concept car. It features a ventilated grille and a revised shark nose front end.
The hood has been pushed further back, and the concept's fancy lights have been replaced with vertical air curtains.
Along the sides, the car boasts curvaceous bodywork and rounded fenders. It rides on aerodynamically optimized wheels, and an available contrasting black roof adds a stylish touch.
The presence of proper door handles and a hint of Toyota iQ can also be spotted.
While Smart didn't reveal much of the rear, a closer look at a planning sheet shows circular taillights and a pronounced spoiler.

The liftgate is more conventional, with a mid-mounted license plate recess. A black bumper appears to feature a reflector instead of a digital display.
The #2 is built on the Electric Compact Architecture and comes with a roughly 35.7 kWh battery pack.
This provides an estimated range of 186 miles (300 km).
When using a DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.
Measuring 109.9 inches (2,792 mm) in length, the new model is 3.8 inches (97 mm) longer than the second-generation ForTwo.
It also boasts a tight turning circle of just 22.8 feet (6.95 meters).

The #2 is set to make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year.
