The Prius has long been known for fuel efficiency and practicality, but Gazoo Racing might give it a sporty twist.

Japanese outlet Creative311 cites Best Car as reporting that Toyota is weighing whether to phase out the Prius due to slow sales.
Sales in the U. S.
have dropped 42% this year, and the next Corolla range could expand to fill the gap.
Nothing is confirmed, and Toyota hasn't commented on the rumors.
If the Prius is nearing the end, a GR or GR Sport version could serve as a fitting farewell.
A Glimpse from the Le Mans Concept
Toyota already showcased a Prius 24h Le Mans Centennial GR Edition concept in 2023.

That concept featured aggressive aero inspired by the GR010 Hybrid racer, including a wider stance, carbon-fiber hood, and a large diffuser.
A production GR Prius would likely tone down the styling, but it shows Toyota has considered the idea.
Potential Powertrain Options
The current Prius offers up to 220 hp in its plug-in hybrid form, but Toyota has more powerful systems available.
The RAV4 GR Sport's 324 hp hybrid system could deliver hot hatch-grade performance in a Prius.
Even the 264 hp version from Europe's RAV4 PHEV would be a significant boost.
Whether Toyota will actually produce such a model remains speculation for now.
