Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages delivered a decisive sacrifice fly off San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller in the ninth inning on Tuesday, securing a 1-1 series-equalizing victory at Petco Park.

The win handed Miller his first loss since May 17, 2025, and allowed the Dodgers to push back against their NL West rivals, who had taken the division lead with a 1-0 win on Monday.

Pages battled through a nine-pitch at-bat, fouling off three triple-digit fastballs and three 87 mph sliders to drive in pinch-runner Alex Call for the unearned run.

"That was one of the greatest at-bats I've ever seen in person," said Dodgers infielder Freddie Freeman. "And I've been playing a long time.

That was incredible."

The rally began when Max Muncy walked after a successful Automated Ball-Strike challenge on a called third strike.

Miller then committed his first career MLB throwing error on a pickoff attempt, allowing Call to advance into scoring position.

"Good plate appearance from Pages," Miller said. "Good, long at-bat, and just barely got it done.

Unfortunate, for sure."

The RBI was Pages' 42nd of the season, pushing his total past teammate Shohei Ohtani.

"The work he's put in showed itself there, but I think at the end of the day, it was just fight," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

"It was just will. Determination.

Not worrying about mechanics.

It's just me versus you, and it was him versus Mason Miller, and he wasn't going to lose that battle."

Miller entered the game leading major league relievers in multiple WAR metrics and carrying a perfect 15-for-15 record in save opportunities this season.

"Mason is the best in the game right now, and Andy willed himself to do something productive in that at-bat," Roberts added.

"It's a fight, and Andy is a tough kid, and he's hungry."

The throw home by Fernando Tatis Jr. was intercepted by cutoff man Sung-mun Song, giving Call the window to slide across home plate safely.

"The most important thing is to win," Pages said. "To win at any cost.

Doing that against a pitcher of that caliber is obviously really good, but I felt very confident the whole time through."

The three-game divisional series concludes at Petco Park on Wednesday evening.
