Persistent rainfall at Charlotte Motor Speedway forced NASCAR to postpone the Craftsman Truck Series race for a second time on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The event was initially delayed on Friday after heavy downpours washed out practice and qualifying.
Organizers moved the start time up Friday evening, but zero laps were completed just past 7 p. m.
EST.
NASCAR rescheduled the race for 8 a. m.
EST Saturday.
However, heavy fog and continuing rain showers cloaked the track, pushing the start time back to 9 p.
m. EST Saturday night.
The race is now scheduled to run immediately following the NASCAR O'Reilly event.
Fans holding tickets for either race will be granted admission to both, with coverage on FOX Sports 1.
The delays disrupted schedules for drivers Ross Chastain and Connor Zilisch, who are competing in all three weekend races.
Richard Childress Racing unloaded its cars Saturday morning into a garage area mourning the sudden death of 41-year-old NASCAR Cup star Kyle Busch.
Due to Friday's qualifying cancellation, the starting lineup was determined by previous performance metrics.
The No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, originally scheduled for Busch, was placed on the pole because of his victory the previous weekend.
Corey Day will drive the No. 7 truck, featuring Kyle Busch Motorsports logos as tributes.
Day leads the field ahead of Layne Riggs, Kaden Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, and Brandon Jones.
Track crews have shifted focus to drying the surface for the scheduled Cup Series practice and qualifying, alongside the O'Reilly race.
"I don't like to see a mockery made out of what our sport is," said Kevin Harvick, former NASCAR driver, reflecting the tense atmosphere in the paddock.
