BMW has temporarily halted production of its popular iX1 electric SUV due to a shortage of standard wheels.
The German automaker lacks sufficient 17- and 18-inch wheels to meet June production targets.

A BMW production manager informed dealers in a letter that while May output is covered, June capacity falls short.
The supplier issue remains unresolved, and the bottleneck may persist for some time.
Customers who ordered the iX1 with standard 17- or 18-inch wheels face delivery delays of up to several months.
One dealer reportedly pushed back a delivery by three months, leaving the buyer without transportation.
BMW suggests upgrading to 19-inch wheels as a workaround.

However, this requires moving to a pricier trim package, adding roughly €1,900 ($2,100) to the cost.
The larger wheels also reduce electric range slightly.
The iX1 on 17-inch wheels offers 320 miles (515 km) of range, while 19-inch wheels drop that to 316 miles (509 km).
The 18-inch wheels, also in short supply, deliver 313 miles (504 km).
The iX1 is a key model for BMW in Europe, where electric vehicle sales remain strong.
