Feyenoord is closely monitoring PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Joel Drommel as a potential replacement for Timon Wellenreuther ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports from ESPN.
The 29-year-old spent the past season on loan at Sparta Rotterdam, where he started every Eredivisie match and recorded 11 clean sheets.
Drommel remains under contract with PSV until mid-2027, but the reigning champions are reportedly willing to cooperate with a transfer due to a lack of first-team prospects under manager Peter Bosz.
Interest from Multiple Clubs
Eindhovens Dagblad club watcher Rik Elfrink noted that Drommel will likely leave Eindhoven if an acceptable offer arrives, drawing potential interest from foreign clubs in the Championship and 2.
Bundesliga, alongside Feyenoord.
Elfrink added that a Sparta follower described the goalkeeper as perfectly suited for a mid-table team after a highly satisfactory loan spell.
The potential acquisition by Feyenoord hinges on the future of Timon Wellenreuther, who is entering the final year of his contract and holds a market value of five million euros.
Feyenoord technical director Devy Rigaux may sell the German shot-stopper this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer, amid rumored interest from German clubs.
Meanwhile, PSV already possesses experienced alternatives in Matej Kovar and Nick Olij, although Kovar has been linked with a potential move to Serie A.
Elfrink also touched upon Olij's situation, noting that PSV policy typically keeps such a backup keeper on board for two years before a departure becomes necessary.
