Anya Taylor-Joy is set to star in and executive produce the Apple TV+ crime thriller series Lucky, which will premiere its first two episodes on July 15, 2026.
The seven-episode season, produced in collaboration with Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, will release new episodes weekly until the finale on August 19, 2026, according to Collider.
Based on the best-selling novel by Marissa Stapley, the series follows Lucky Armstrong, a reformed con artist forced to confront her past for one final job.
Cast and Creative Team
The supporting cast includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. Showrunner Cassie Pappas and writer Jonathan Tropper lead the adaptation.
Reese Witherspoon, executive producer, revealed that Taylor-Joy was the only actress considered for the role.
"She was the first and only actress we shared the book with," Witherspoon said.
Witherspoon praised Taylor-Joy's deep engagement with the project, calling her "a born producer" who "cares deeply, connects viscerally to the character."
The role demands extensive physical action and stunt work, which Taylor-Joy embraced.
"This is somebody who can't sit still," she said, adding, "And I'm somebody that loves to move."
Reflecting on her early career, Taylor-Joy recalled the challenges of breaking into Hollywood as an 11-year-old after being in one school play, noting that generic advice about timing was not helpful.
Meanwhile, Taylor-Joy's breakout film, The Witch, will stream for free on Tubi starting July 1, 2026.
The 2016 horror film directed by Robert Eggers grossed nearly $41 million against a $4 million budget.
