The City of Windsor has outlined extensive downtown road closures and public service modifications for the annual Canada Day parade on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Vehicular traffic on Ouellette Avenue will face staggered restrictions starting at 8:30 a. m.
from Shepherd Street to Giles Boulevard. The closures will expand to Wyandotte Street at 10:30 a.
m. and reach Riverside Drive by 11:30 a.
m.
Government Services and Mail
All federal, provincial, and municipal administrative buildings in Windsor-Essex will close for the 159th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.
Canada Post deliveries and Service Ontario physical branch operations will be suspended for the day.
Residents can still report emergency municipal infrastructure issues via a dedicated emergency line.
Waste Collection and Transit
Standard residential waste collection in specified Windsor zones will experience a one-day delay.
Transit Windsor will operate on a Sunday schedule, while municipal metered street parking will be free throughout the holiday.
Recreational Facilities
Indoor pools and libraries will be closed.
Outdoor splash pads, select outdoor pools, and regional shopping centers such as Devonshire Mall will remain open under designated holiday hours.
