The new BMW X5 has arrived, and its daytime running lights are generating buzz for an unexpected reason: they look like the X logo from Elon Musk's social media platform.
Unlike the simpler angled slashes on the iX3 and i3, the X5 opts for X-shaped DRLs that are virtually identical to the X logo.
The resemblance is uncanny, especially with a void in the left-side light that mirrors the logo's design.
These DRLs also function as turn signals, meaning drivers will flash X-shaped lights when turning or using hazard lights.
BMW likely aimed to give its flagship SUV a unique signature, but the design choice has sparked comparisons to Musk's brand.
Ironically, BMW may have beaten Tesla to the punch—if Musk sees these lights, he might wonder why his own company didn't incorporate its logo into headlights first.
