Acura has unveiled a striking two-seat sports car concept called the Nexera Vision at Monterey Car Week, but it won't reach production.
Instead, the concept previews the brand's future design direction, which will influence upcoming models, including the next-generation RDX Hybrid SUV.
The Nexera Vision features an aggressive stance with a long hood and a low, sharp nose, finished in Matte Titanium.
Its clean surfacing is highlighted by a generous dash-to-axle ratio, giving it a sporty proportion.
Phantom Lighting and Butterfly Doors
The exterior's standout feature is the new phantom lighting signature, with LED headlights and taillights that remain hidden until switched on.
These V-shaped units draw inspiration from the Acura emblem and will debut on the next RDX Hybrid.
The concept also sports large dual-hinge butterfly doors, an aerodynamic greenhouse, air channels on the nose, an active rear spoiler, and a forged carbon bodykit.
It rides on 22-inch center-lock wheels with a 3D directional design, matte anodized finish, and forged carbon inserts, paired with Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
Minimalist and Sustainable Interior
Inside, the cabin is futuristic, minimalist, and sustainable, focusing on reducing distractions.
Instead of large screens, there's a curved digital instrument cluster behind a yoke-shaped steering wheel, evoking memories of the Honda S2000.
The bucket seats are fixed to the floor to achieve the lowest possible seating position, with the steering wheel and pedal box adjusting to the driver.
Materials include CircuLeather upholstery with a lower carbon footprint, Alcantara made from recycled polyester, recycled aluminum, and forged carbon details.
The concept was developed at Acura Design California studio in Los Angeles, under the direction of Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura's Creative Director and VP of Auto Design.
Tsuchida said the goal is to define Acura performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form, and seamless integration of advanced technology.
He added that the Nexera Vision sets the course for the next generation of Acura design, evolving with clarity and purpose.
Acura hasn't disclosed powertrain details, but the packaging hints at a fully electric setup.
The Nexera Vision will make its public debut at The Quail on August 14 and appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Concept Lawn on August 16.
While there are no plans for production, elements of the concept's exterior and interior will influence future Acura models.
A positive public reaction could potentially push the concept toward development.
The Nexera Vision continues Acura's tradition of sports car concepts, following the HSC from 2004, the Advanced Sports Car Concept from 2007, and the NSX Concept from 2012.
