Starting quarterbacks Zach Collaros and Bo Levi Mitchell were both knocked out of the CFL game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers due to injuries in Hamilton on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Winnipeg starter Collaros exited early in the second quarter after sustaining an upper-body injury when he was sacked by Hamilton defensive back Reggie Stubblefield, as reported by TSN and Sportsnet.

The 37-year-old Collaros walked off the field under his own power but did not return, finishing the game with five completions on seven attempts for 41 yards and one interception.

Rookie Taylor Elgersma took over under centre for the Blue Bombers following the departure of Collaros.

During the third quarter, Hamilton starter Mitchell suffered a left leg injury when Winnipeg defensive lineman Jake Ceresna sacked him and landed on his leg.

The 36-year-old veteran was treated on the field and loaded into an ambulance, offering a thumbs-up to the crowd before being transported.

Before his departure, Mitchell completed 18-of-29 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown, continuing a strong 2026 season start.

Veteran quarterback Tre Ford replaced Mitchell for the Tiger-Cats after an 18-minute delay in play.

The entries of Elgersma and Ford marked the first time two U Sports quarterbacks attempted a pass in the same CFL game since 1969.
