Gloucestershire Constabulary Chief Constable Rod Hansen will appear before a public gross misconduct hearing next week.
The hearing is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the University of Gloucestershire's Park Campus in Cheltenham.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) completed its investigation on August 8, 2025.
It concluded that Hansen had a case to answer for gross misconduct after he allegedly failed to act on a data breach report from October 2022.
Hansen is accused of failing to properly handle information about a staff member who allegedly conducted unauthorized searches of police systems.
That staff member also accessed third-party personal data following a traffic collision.
Additionally, Hansen allegedly provided a misleading statement during the investigation.
The allegations involve suspected breaches of the Police Standards of Professional Behaviour, specifically regarding honesty and integrity, discreditable conduct, challenging and reporting improper conduct, duties and responsibilities, and orders and instructions.
Hansen firmly denies any wrongdoing.
He was initially suspended by Police and Crime Commissioner Chris Nelson in October 2024 before being briefly redeployed to the National Police Chiefs' Council.
A second suspension occurred in May 2025 over separate allegations regarding improper involvement in staff recruitment.
However, that specific accusation was dropped after an IOPC determination, which stated there was "no case to answer," according to BBC reports from March 2026.
The upcoming proceedings at the neutral venue in Cheltenham are scheduled to run on weekdays until July 24, 2026.
Officials noted the timeline could conclude earlier or be extended.
