Real Madrid has officially completed the transfer of Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries from Internazionale, the clubs confirmed on July 7, 2026.
The move ends Dumfries' five-year tenure with the Italian side.
Internazionale released a detailed farewell message through its official channels, celebrating the right-back's contributions since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in 2021.
The club highlighted his first goal against AS Roma in 2021 and key performances in the Champions League against Barcelona.
Inter recalled several milestone moments from his five seasons, including his late-game heroics in Lecce, crucial assists and goals during the Champions League semi-finals at San Siro, and his passionate Scudetto championship celebrations with fans.
The narrative detailed his emotional connection to supporters, describing his gestures toward fans in Munich and his decisive energy against Como during the title race.
Reflecting on his growth since joining from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, the club praised his determination, relentless speed on the right flank, and consistency inside the penalty box.
"Vijf jaar lang pure schoonheid," the club stated.
The Italian club emphasized that San Siro and Milan would always remain a home for the defender, noting that the traditional fan chants for him would endure.
The official statement concluded by wishing the Dutch international success in his future career after their shared domestic and international campaigns.
According to reports from PSVInside, Dumfries now joins a historic list of Dutch and international figures who moved through Eindhoven before eventually wearing the white jersey of Real Madrid.
The list includes Brazilian striker Ronaldo, who played for PSV from 1994 to 1996 before moving to Barcelona, Inter, and eventually Madrid in 2002, as well as Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined Madrid in 2006 following a prolific spell in Eindhoven and a subsequent run at Manchester United.
Arjen Robben represents the third player on this list, having moved from PSV to Chelsea in 2004 before his transfer to Real Madrid in 2007, where he played for two seasons prior to establishing a lengthy legacy at Bayern Munich.
