A 2-year-old child has died following a drowning incident at a residence on Game Farm Road in Champaign County.
The incident occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Emergency services were called after the toddler was found unresponsive in the water.

Deputies from the Champaign County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene and immediately began CPR.
Paramedics then took over medical care and transported the child to Mercy Urbana Hospital, where the toddler later died.

Investigation Underway
Investigators processed the scene and collected evidence, including surveillance video from the property. Witnesses were interviewed to determine the events leading up to the drowning.
The Champaign County Sheriff's Office stated the incident remains under active investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
