Negotiations concerning the military conflict between the United States and Iran are underway following a three-day pause in exchange of strikes, according to statements made by US President Donald Trump on July 27, 2026.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump indicated optimism regarding a potential resolution to the hostilities, while issuing a stern warning about the conditions of the temporary lull in military actions.
"I think there's a good chance that something could happen," said Donald Trump, President of the United States.
However, the president emphasized that American military operations could quickly resume if current diplomatic efforts fail to yield results.

Trump explained that he halted American airstrikes on Friday following requests from mediating nations, who asked for an opportunity to facilitate diplomatic discussions.
Iranian forces subsequently stopped their strikes as well.
The temporary pause follows nearly two weeks of persistent US strikes and retaliation, which disrupted a prior ceasefire established in June.
American military officials stated those initial operations aimed to protect commercial shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials, however, have publicly denied participating in any direct talks.
Addressing reports regarding potential strain on US defense supplies after five months of active military engagement, Trump dismissed concerns about depleted munitions stockpiles.
"We have a lot of ammunition.
We have a lot of the mid-level stuff too, more than we could ever use, no matter what," said Donald Trump, President of the United States.
"But we have a lot. I'd like to have more."
He noted that domestic production of military equipment is actively increasing, specifically targeting critical defense hardware.

White House officials supported the administration's position regarding defense readiness and ongoing weapons manufacturing efforts.
"Has more than enough munitions, ammo, and stockpiles to serve all of President Trump's strategic goals and beyond, and Operation Epic Fury has exposed what happens when you mess with the United States," said Anna Kelly, White House spokesperson.
Kelly further stated that defense contractors are being prompted to maintain high production levels.
"Even still, the president has urged our defence contractors to constantly produce more made-in-America weapons, which are the best in the world," said Anna Kelly, White House spokesperson.
The joint US and Israeli military campaign against Iran commenced on February 28, prompting Iranian missile and drone counter-attacks against US facilities in Gulf states and targets within Israel.
Although both sides signed a memorandum of understanding in June to halt operations and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, fighting resumed after Iranian forces targeted tankers on July 13.
Subsequent strikes led to four American military casualties and dozens of deaths reported by Iran's health ministry.
