Temperatures across the Netherlands are projected to climb significantly on July 28, 2026, reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius in eastern regions during the hottest day of the week.
Substantial sunshine and high humidity levels are driving the heat following recent rainfall.
Coastal regions will experience milder conditions, with temperatures ranging between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius during peak hours.
Meteorologist Wouter van Bernebeek of Weerplaza stated that sunny conditions will dominate the regional weather pattern.
"There is plenty of sun on Tuesday, nothing changes about that," he said.
Rising humidity is expected to intensify the perceived heat throughout the afternoon. "Because there is little wind and humidity is quite high," said Van Bernebeek.
"Quite a bit of rain has fallen in recent days. That will evaporate and cause higher humidity, making it feel quite humid."
Peak Heat Mid-Week
Peak heat will occur mid-week across eastern and western provinces before cooler air moves inland.
"Also then it feels muggy, because Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week with again lots of sun and tropical temperatures everywhere.
In the west of the province around 30 to 32 degrees. In the east it could locally even reach 35 degrees," said Van Bernebeek.
Lighter sea breezes are anticipated to lower conditions closer to weekend periods. "The extreme heat will not last long.
Thursday the temperature will be somewhat lower.
Still 30 to 32 degrees in the east, but the wind will slowly start blowing more from the sea and that means Friday and the weekend will be more pleasant," said Van Bernebeek.
Dry weather will persist across most regions, with minimal chances of precipitation early next week. "Hardly anything else changes in the weather pattern.
Dry with lots of sun through Sunday.
Next week Monday or Tuesday the chance of showers increases, but I do not expect really large amounts of rain," said Van Bernebeek.
Forecaster Jules Geirnaerdt confirmed that mild coastal winds will develop alongside warm inland conditions. "Now there is quite a bit of sun.
However, a small cloud will occasionally move in front of the sun," he said.
Temperatures in inland provinces are expected to remain between 27 and 32 degrees prior to the cooling trend.
"It will be a nice summer day," said Geirnaerdt.
Beach conditions are expected to attract visitors as onshore winds pick up.
"The beach is then the place to be, because a light wind from the sea will develop quickly," said Geirnaerdt.
