Hannah Waddingham made a glamorous appearance at the red carpet premiere of Ted Lasso Season 4 in Los Angeles.
The 51-year-old actress attended alongside her partner, spinal surgeon Nick Beresford-Cleary.
Waddingham wore a golden Monique Lhuillier strapless minidress paired with a customized self-tan and subtle makeup.
Her summer style drew praise ahead of her 52nd birthday.
Waddingham went public with Beresford-Cleary at a London event in June.
She had spent eight years focused on raising her 12-year-old daughter, Kitty, following a split from former partner Gianluca Cugnetto.
Reflecting on her return to dating, Waddingham shared her perspective on balance and self-worth.
“I didn’t really have the space mentally or emotionally for that.
I’ve hunkered down and focused on my girl and me,” she said, as reported by Women's Health UK.
The actress noted that her primary focus remained on establishing personal strength before re-entering a relationship.
“And it’s really lovely too, obviously, my relationship. But the best thing about it is, firstly, being happy and strong in myself,” Waddingham said.
Addressing single parenthood and dating standards, she discussed her priorities in maintaining personal boundaries.
“I am quite picky. I feel like being a single mother is the greatest contraception on the planet!
Yes, I could go out on dates; yes, I could go out here, there and everywhere, but I have a shorter fuse for bulls—t now.
I know that someone will come along who likes a strong, opinionated woman, and is inspired by it rather than terrified!”
Waddingham said, according to Glamour.
The performer also reflected on the initial adjustment to raising her daughter after her separation from Cugnetto.
“Of course, I never intended to be a single mother, but luckily I’m still on good terms with my daughter’s father, which is important.
Our relationship ended when our daughter was around two and a half years old.
It felt like the rug was pulled from underneath me, but I had to make the decision not to be weakened by it,” she said.
Waddingham acknowledged the ongoing balancing act between professional demands and parenting.
“I do believe that when you painfully shut one door, the sun shines through the cracks of another and you have to go to it.
Of course, some days I think that I’m an absolutely rubbish mother because I go out to work strange hours and I can’t always be with my girl, and I do believe women particularly have inherent guilt.
But I’m learning to feel pride in my work and that can only be a positive thing to teach my daughter—just as I saw my mother working, my daughter now sees me, and so it continues,” Waddingham said.
Speaking on industry confidence and stature, she previously recalled navigating physical presence in television and theater roles.
“Never slouch – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually – never slouch for anyone, ever. Because I feel like I did for a long time, to feel like you fit in.
Or dim your light because you're big when you come into a room. Which sounds easier than it is,” she said, as reported by Woman & Home.
She emphasized the value of self-acceptance regardless of external perceptions in professional settings.
“We all have those moments when you want to recoil, but I don't think that it's good for your soul, and the people that love you will love you anyway,” Waddingham said.
Commenting on the aesthetic choices behind Waddingham's red-carpet appearance, industry professionals noted how bronzed looks elevate client confidence.
“I find most clients feel differently about their makeup when they're tanned,” said Hannah Martin, celebrity makeup artist, according to Good Housekeeping.
Martin highlighted the functional benefits of self-tanning products for event appearances.
“Whether it's worn on the face, décolleté, arms or legs, a tan really does help even out skin tone, which is an immediate confidence booster if you have things like high colour, broken veins or capillaries, hyperpigmentation.
Once those concerns have been somewhat neutralised with tan, I find that clients do generally feel a bit more confident,” Martin said.
In addition to her return to Ted Lasso, Waddingham currently stars in the Prime Video action series Ride or Die.
