Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios have released Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters on July 31, 2026. The film marks Tom Holland's fourth standalone outing as Peter Parker.
The blockbuster brings back Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, with newcomer Sadie Sink joining the cast. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie runs 145 minutes.
This installment shifts the franchise back toward street-level heroism in New York City.
The story follows Peter Parker navigating life after Doctor Strange erased the world's memory of his identity.
Jacob Batalon reflected on his uncertain future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a promotional panel.
"Luckily, we're all best friends, so if he's making another one, we're going to be there!" said Batalon.
He noted that the emotional climax of the previous film left things open-ended. "I think a lot of it was left open-ended on purpose.
But at that point, it was really emotional, obviously.
I think we were all grown up enough to know that some things don't get to last forever," said Batalon.
Batalon also spoke about the real-world challenges during production. "But, luckily, we're privileged and lucky enough to be a part of this again.
During that time, specifically… it was a hard time for everyone. I was crying a lot that day," said Batalon.
At the Los Angeles premiere on July 27, Batalon highlighted his bond with Holland and Zendaya.
"It's pretty beautiful to really get to grow with these people who've really become my family. It's amazing," said Batalon.
Adjusting to the altered storyline required a dynamic shift during filming. Batalon's character no longer remembers Peter Parker.
"I just had to pretend I didn't know who Tom was.
It was a really great time… It was a great acting exercise for sure… He's amazing," said Batalon.
Addressing longtime fan theories about his character Ned Leeds turning villainous, Batalon said, "I've been hearing these theories since I was 19, so I think that I've kind of grown with these theories.
I think that people really love to play on the idea that they love seeing best friends go at each other.
But it's interesting. Anything to get me a suit and more money, please fans, please keep theorizing.
I appreciate you."
Batalon summarized what moviegoers can expect: "New storyline, crazy emotion, a lot of action, but also really funny at the same time.
Hope everyone loves it."
Joining the cast is 24-year-old Texas native Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things. Marvel has kept Sink's official character unconfirmed amid online speculation.
Batalon shared how the cast welcomed her: "I feel like she's pretty good on her own, but I think we were just very welcoming to her and wanted to know she's a part of the family."
During an interview with The Backstage Experience, Sink discussed growing up in Brenham, Texas, before moving to New York in 2012.
"It was like a pageant of sorts, and my brother won Mr. Scoop when he was like 3 years old.
So he's technically the pride of Brenham, Texas, I would say," said Sink.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day also features Mark Ruffalo returning as Bruce Banner. Worldwide theater screenings begin July 31, 2026.
