Besiktas has temporarily halted transfer negotiations with free agent Mohamed Salah, citing unresolved financial disagreements, according to the club's sporting director Önder Özent.
The Turkish club presented a final offer to Salah but refused to enhance the terms, adhering to club policy and legal limits on commission fees.
Salah's representatives are reportedly in discussions with another club, as confirmed by Özent.
"Besiktas' offer, made on its own terms, is on the table," Özent stated. "If a response comes, it can be evaluated.
But Besiktas will not make another offer. They have said they're in talks with another club as well; perhaps they'll reach an agreement there."
Özent revealed that multiple meetings with Salah's camp initially proceeded smoothly, but financial talks stalled from July 21 onward.
"Requests began to emerge that would bring both the flow of information and the financial side to a standstill.
I can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this," he added.
The club maintains a firm stance on legal commission rates and avoiding excessive financial demands, with the president setting a clear boundary.
"The president, by not making a populist decision, has 'stepped away from the table for now,'" Özent said.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed no agreement exists yet between Salah and Besiktas, with salary demands remaining a sticking point.
Salah is also considering offers from Major League Soccer and the Saudi Pro League.
Liverpool Targets Barcola, Besiktas Eyes Chiesa
Meanwhile, Liverpool has shifted focus to signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, who reportedly gave a verbal agreement to join the club.
Despite Barcola's commitment, transfer talks between Liverpool and PSG continue amid valuation differences, with PSG reportedly valuing Barcola at around £145 million.
Barcola's contract situation at PSG is uncertain after he declined to renew, and the PSG manager reportedly prefers players fully committed to the club.
Besiktas has also turned its attention to Liverpool's Federico Chiesa as a more financially viable option for reinforcing their right wing following the stalled Salah negotiations.
Chiesa, who played 36 games but totaled only 726 minutes last season at Liverpool, is reportedly unhappy with limited playing time, making a move possible.
