Celtic winger Haissem Hassan has been sidelined with an injury while on international duty with Egypt, national team manager Hossam Hassan confirmed.
The setback leaves the Scottish club facing further squad depth issues after a stretch of three consecutive defeats.
The £9 million summer signing from Real Oviedo had joined Celtic's pre-season late after representing Egypt at the World Cup.
He will now miss the entirety of Egypt's current international camp to undergo medical treatment.
Egypt Prioritise Player Health
Hossam Hassan said the winger is undergoing intensive physical care and will not participate in the upcoming matches.
"Haissem Hassan is receiving intensive treatment just now.
But I am not worried about his absence because we have a lot of excellent players to replace him," the Egypt manager said.
The national team head coach emphasised that the player's long-term health remains the priority for both the national squad and his club management.
"Haissem is a vital technical asset for our long-term vision, but his recent injury made it impossible for him to join us for this camp," Hossam Hassan said.
"We prioritise player health and full physical recovery above all else and we expect him back once he is 100 per cent fit."
Despite the absence of the key winger, the Egyptian coaching staff expressed full confidence in the rest of the roster during this international window.
"We cannot halt our progress or make excuses because of injuries.
The secret to our success lies in navigating these difficulties and I assure everyone that the team are fully ready," Hossam Hassan said.
The exact nature and timeline of the injury remain unconfirmed, though the three-week duration of the international break offers Celtic hope for his recovery before club matches resume.
Celtic are expecting regular fitness updates from the Egyptian medical staff throughout his rehabilitation.
The Hoops currently face limited options on the flanks, though South Korean winger Yang Hyun-jun is scheduled to return following his Asian Games campaign.
Meanwhile, Portuguese winger Jota remains sidelined until late October, while Camilo Duran continues to fill in across the attacking line.
