Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow suspended his professional relationship with faith-based organization Life Surge following an investigative report by journalist Pablo Torre.
The report alleged predatory financial practices targeting event attendees.
Tebow said his team is reviewing the situation while halting all joint operations with the organization.
"The allegations are extremely, extremely serious," Tebow told reporters, "and it's something that we take very serious."
He added that his team is conducting an investigation and pausing the relationship until more facts are known.
Tebow Caught Off Guard by Report
When asked about his prior awareness of the allegations, Tebow said he was informed shortly before traveling to a scheduled event.
He explained that he was at an anti-human trafficking conference and his team shared the information as they were flying to Alabama for an event.
"Kind of caught off guard with some of it," Tebow said, "and I think that's why we're trying to understand more of the facts to really learn it."
The investigative report detailed how Life Surge reportedly leveraged Christian seminars featuring high-profile speakers to persuade attendees into purchasing expensive money-making courses.
Tebow's internal team is continuing its review of the facts surrounding Life Surge's operations to determine future involvement.
