UFC bantamweight Raoni Barcelos is under medical supervision at a Las Vegas hospital after being knocked unconscious during a fifth-round takedown by Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Fight Night 289.
Barcelos lost consciousness immediately as Rosas Jr. executed a trip takedown at the Meta APEX.
Medical personnel attended to him on the canvas before he was transported by stretcher to a nearby Level 1 trauma center.
Barcelos Regains Consciousness
Former UFC fighter Davi Ramos, a member of Barcelos' team, confirmed on social media that the fighter had regained consciousness and was speaking with doctors.
UFC later released an official statement on his condition.
"Following his fight tonight, Raoni Barcelos was immediately transported to a Level 1 trauma center for evaluation.
The hospital medical team conducted a CT scan and comprehensive assessment, and he is currently being monitored. Barcelos is stable, alert and responsive, with full movement."
"He will remain under medical supervision. We will provide updates on his condition as they become available," the statement added.
The victory moved Rosas Jr. to 13-1 in his professional career, while Barcelos dropped to 22-6 overall.
