Guatemala held host Suriname to a 0-0 draw on October 2, 2026, in Matchday 3 of the Concacaf Nations League League A Group B at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo.

Suriname controlled the opening 45 minutes, dominating possession and repeatedly threatening the visiting defense.

Guatemala struggled to keep the ball, often relying on long passes that quickly surrendered possession to the host nation.

Guatemalan goalkeeper Kenderson Navarro played a pivotal role in maintaining the scoreless tie, stopping multiple dangerous scoring opportunities created by Suriname's high-pressing offense during the first half.

Guatemala managed to settle into a stronger defensive posture as the match progressed, limiting clear chances despite two erratic misjudgments by Navarro early in the game.

Second-Half Adjustments and Late Pressure

Guatemala adjusted its formation for the second half, bringing on Rudy Munoz and Jesus Lopez for Olger Escobar and Matthew Evans.

The substitutions helped Guatemala establish better possession and advance higher up the field, leading to a header attempt by Munoz that forced a save from Surinamese goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen.

Suriname continued to generate pressure and recorded nine total shots on goal, but failed to break through.

Late match substitutions by Suriname saw Denzel Jubitana, Richonell Margaret, and Justin Lonwijk exit, while Guatemala introduced Jonathan Franco, Jose Ramon Bolanos, and Robles.

Referee Katia Itzel Garcia managed the physical contest, issuing yellow cards to Lonwijk, Robles, Jose Rosales, and Jorge Aparicio before adding five minutes of stoppage time.

The scoreless result allows both teams to share points in Group B, which also features Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, and El Salvador.

Under the competition format, the top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals alongside pre-seeded teams Canada, Mexico, Panama, and the United States.

Guatemala will host Suriname in their next group stage matchup at Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera.
