Sean Dyche is content to wait before returning to management, though the former Everton boss has not closed the door on another job in football.
The 55-year-old has been out of work since leaving Nottingham Forest in February and has since taken up regular punditry work with talkSPORT.
Dyche said the intensity of his recent roles made him willing to hold out for the right fit rather than accept any offer.
"We'll see. First thing's first, it's not easy to get any jobs in football.
So you've got to first of all, get a job," he said.
He stressed that the next position must be one he genuinely wants, describing his recent spells as heavy lifting at clubs needing to be stabilised.
"But it's also got to be one that you want. The last few have been tough going.
It's been heavy lifting when you're at clubs that need almost bailing out, and sort of stripping back and getting going again," Dyche said.
Everton and Forest spells
Dyche first joined Everton in January 2023 with the club in the relegation zone and secured Premier League survival on the final day through a 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
In his first full season, Everton were hit with an eight-point deduction for Profitability and Sustainability Rules breaches.
They still finished on 40 points, 14 clear of the relegation zone, while conceding only 51 goals.
Everton dismissed Dyche in January 2025 with the side 16th after 17 points from 19 matches, and David Moyes returned for a second spell in charge.
Dyche then spent four months at Nottingham Forest before his departure in February.
Away from the touchline, he watches his son Max play for Northampton Town and takes part in community fundraising, including an upcoming charity event in Merthyr Tydfil with talkSPORT colleague Jonny Owen.
"There's all sorts I'm getting involved with. I'm quite enjoying that side of it," he said.
Even so, Dyche accepted that football can change quickly.
"But you know what it's like, never say never in football. The phone rings and you might just go, yep, come on and let's go," he said.
