ASML said customers are expressing interest in ordering advanced semiconductor equipment as far out as 2029 and 2030, as the Dutch chip equipment maker reported third-quarter profit above expectations.
The company also said it is reviewing plans to expand production capacity amid demand tied to artificial intelligence.
ASML posted third-quarter net profit of 4.96 billion euros, exceeding the 4.1 billion euros expected by LSEG analysts, according to CNBC.
Revenue reached 11.66 billion euros, compared with the 11.72 billion euros consensus estimate.
The company said it is examining ways to increase 2028 capacity beyond its previous forecast of a 30% rise.
It said planned supply for 2027 and 2028 will not fully satisfy customer demand.
AI Investments Drive Demand Visibility
CEO Christophe Fouquet said customers continue to raise their short- and medium-term equipment demand forecasts with ASML.
He said the increases are driven primarily by customers' views on the size and duration of AI-related investments.
Fouquet said the demand outlook has improved as chipmakers expand manufacturing linked to artificial intelligence investments.
ASML also reported that Samsung and TSMC committed to using its High NA extreme ultraviolet lithography machines during the quarter.
"In light of their demand visibility, some customers are expressing an interest in placing orders with us for 2029 and even 2030," Fouquet said.
ASML is the only company producing extreme ultraviolet lithography machines, which are used to manufacture the most advanced semiconductors.
CNBC reported that the company raised the lower end of its 2026 sales forecast and now expects full-year revenue of 44 billion euros to 45 billion euros.
ASML expects fourth-quarter net sales between 14.2 billion euros and 15.2 billion euros, with the upper end above LSEG consensus estimates.
The company also maintained its forecast that China sales will represent 20% of total business.
ASML remains restricted from selling EUV and some DUV tools to China, while it continues to dominate production of advanced lithography systems used in global chip manufacturing.
