The Philadelphia 76ers signed Cris Carroll and Taye Fields to Exhibit 10 contracts after waiving Duke Miles and Saint Thomas, reshaping their training camp roster.

The moves give Carroll and Fields a chance to compete for minutes in the preseason finale against the Boston Celtics and potentially join the Delaware Blue Coats, Philadelphia's NBA G League affiliate.

According to PhillyVoice reporter Matt Murphy, the departures of Miles and Thomas were procedural moves following their training camp agreements.

Both are expected to join the Blue Coats for the upcoming season, while the new signings give Philadelphia additional options as it evaluates its roster before the regular season begins.

What Carroll and Fields Bring

Carroll, a 6-foot-6 forward from Youngstown State, brings college production and perimeter shooting potential.

According to Liberty Ballers, he made 39.6% of his three-point attempts and could provide an outside shooting option on the wing.

During two college seasons, Carroll started 59 of 66 games and averaged 25.1 minutes per contest, according to The Sixer Sense.

He recorded 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 46.9% from the field.

Fields, a 6-foot-4 guard from North Alabama, arrives after playing for the Hefte Helfen Bulls in Austria's Basketball Superliga last season.

He also represented Philadelphia during NBA Summer League, averaging 2.0 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.7 minutes across five games, according to Liberty Ballers.

During the 2024-2025 season, Fields started all 35 games he played for North Alabama, averaging 11.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, along with 1.1 blocks.

The Sixer Sense reported that he shot 53.5% from the field and 35.7% from three-point range.

Philadelphia had three other Exhibit 10 players remaining in camp after the transactions: Jameer Nelson Jr., Dillon Jones and Tacko Fall.

The team also had an open two-way roster spot, leaving several candidates competing for an opportunity to split time between the NBA club and its G League affiliate.

The roster changes followed preseason appearances by the two waived players.

Thomas played in all three of Philadelphia's preseason games and recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over New York, while Miles appeared in two games, according to Liberty Ballers.

Philadelphia was scheduled to host Boston on Friday, October 16, at 7 p. m.

Eastern Time for its final preseason game.

The contest offered the remaining training camp candidates another opportunity to demonstrate their readiness before the team turned its attention to the regular season opener against the New York Knicks.

The Sixers had not added a backup center through these transactions.

Liberty Ballers noted that Tacko Fall remained a potential option for a two-way contract, while the team continued evaluating its available roster candidates ahead of the regular season.
