Florida Gators center Rueben Chinyelu has officially withdrawn from the 2026 NBA Draft, choosing to return to the university for his senior season.

The announcement was made on May 21 via the Florida Gators men's basketball program's social media.

The decision came before the NCAA deadline on May 27, which requires college prospects to finalize their draft intentions.

The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23.

Chinyelu's return provides Florida with a key defensive presence.

During his junior season, he averaged 10.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and one block per game while shooting 58.4% from the field.

His performance earned him SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors and an All-SEC selection.

The Nigerian national was a starter during Florida's 2024-25 national championship run. He joined the Gators after transferring from Washington State, where he spent his freshman year.

At the recent NBA Draft Combine, Chinyelu measured 6 feet 9.25 inches without shoes, weighed 259 pounds, and recorded a 7-foot-7.5 wingspan.

That wingspan is the longest recorded at the combine since Zach Edey.

Analysts believe Chinyelu's size, strength, and lateral mobility make him a strong prospect for the 2027 NBA Draft.

His draft stock is expected to rise with another productive season under the Florida coaching staff.

Other notable prospects who recently decided to return to school include Jacob Cofie of USC and Elliot Cadeau of Michigan.
