Rangers have advanced negotiations to sign Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland on an initial two-year deal with an option to extend, according to reports on Sunday.

The Ibrox club aims to finalize the transfer before the 30-year-old striker departs for the World Cup with the Scotland national team.

Simultaneously, Rangers are finalizing a two-year contract extension for goalkeeper Liam Kelly, keeping the 30-year-old at the club until 2028.

Kelly has made only three appearances behind first-choice Jack Butland.

Shankland's Impact and Move

Shankland scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, including 16 in the Scottish Premiership, helping Hearts secure second place and a Champions League qualifier spot.

Rangers finished third under head coach Danny Rohl.

The striker joined Hearts in 2022 from Belgian side Beerschot and has netted 88 goals in 171 appearances over four seasons.

He signed a three-year contract extension with Hearts last summer.

Although previously linked to his boyhood club, past Rangers managers did not make formal bids for Shankland.

Rangers Summer Rebuild

The dual squad movements come as Rohl initiates a comprehensive summer rebuild of the Rangers roster following their third-place league finish.
