"While WWE is feeling less and less accessible, I feel like that's the biggest draw of AEW," said Jones.
"You can't get in the building in WWE for less than $100."
The event also featured other regional figures, including West Islip performer Kris Statlander challenging for the AEW Women's World Championship and East Setauket native Mick Foley appearing on the pre-show.
Twelve-year-old Nicholas Maguire of Massapequa attended his first AEW show specifically to see the local headliner.
"He thinks in a way that ensures that he has the most success for him as possible," said Maguire.
"He's an old-fashioned heel."

The evening lineup concluded with MJF wrestling AEW men's world champion Darby Allin in the main event.
