The Texas Longhorns defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 4-1 on Thursday in Oklahoma City to capture the Women's College World Series national championship.
Defensive errors plagued the highly funded Red Raiders roster, preventing them from forcing a deciding third game in the finals.

Texas Tech entered the season as the preseason top-ranked team after acquiring high-profile transfer players through NIL funding.
However, multiple defensive misplays in the fifth and seventh innings allowed the Longhorns to overturn an early 1-1 deadlock and seal the series victory.
Coach Glasco Responds to Expectations
Red Raiders head coach Gerry Glasco addressed the immense expectations placed on his team before the final series commenced on Wednesday.
"Everything we’ve built in the last year-and-a half has been for this moment, and I believe we’re ready," Glasco said.
Following the Game 2 loss, Glasco rejected the notion that financial backing alone could secure a national title in collegiate softball.
"Anyone that understands our sport knows that you can’t buy a championship," he said.
The coach noted that the defensive breakdowns late in the game contributed heavily to the defeat.
"I don’t know if (we were) rattled or we just (weren’t) prepared for the pressure, but there were plays we should make that we didn’t," Glasco said.
Glasco pushed back against critics who labeled the runner-up finish a failure for the program.
"Only if you’re naive and don’t understand the difficulty of the sport … did you think this is disappointing," he said.
