Pitcher Struggles and Standout Performances

Texas Tech pitcher Nijaree Canady struggled during the postseason run, finishing her senior year with a 1.87 ERA and allowing 10 home runs in tournament play.

"I feel like this whole year has been hard," Canady said.

"Me and (pitching coach) Tara (Archibald) were kind of looking at the stats of other pitchers, and it was an offensive-heavy year.

I think that contributed a lot to it."

Canady, who was selected as the No. 2 pick in the AUSL draft, reflected on her collegiate career after missing out on the championship trophy.

"I don’t think someone’s whole career is defined by a National Championship," she said.

Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan earned her second consecutive WCWS Most Outstanding Player award after surrendering just four earned runs across 26.1 innings pitched.
