The Kalispell AA Lakers began their baseball season with a 9-5 victory over the Libby Loggers in a rain-shortened game on Wednesday in Libby.

Hunter Fann led the Lakers' offense, hitting a home run and a double. Teagen Dixon contributed three stolen bases.

Kalispell used 16 players in the batter's box and six different pitchers over seven-plus innings. The pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts but also issued 11 walks.

Libby managed three hits, with Bransen Holzer collecting two, including an RBI double in the fifth inning.

The Lakers took an early lead in the second inning when Max Schara drove in two runs with a single, making it 3-0.

Fann extended the lead to 4-1 with a solo home run in the fourth, and Miles Arrowsmith added an RBI single in the fifth.

Libby responded in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 6-5.

They capitalized on five walks, a passed ball, and bases-loaded walks from Noah Gillespie and Kale Hall.

Kalispell secured insurance runs in the seventh on George Schwan's RBI single and in the eighth on a two-out fielding error by Libby that allowed two runs to score.

The game was called in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs due to heavy rain.
