The Philadelphia Phillies secured an 8-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night, relying on a strong offensive performance to overcome a difficult start by pitcher Jesus Luzardo.
Luzardo ran into trouble with two outs in the second inning.

After hitting a batter, he allowed a run-scoring double to Luisangel Acuna and a run-scoring single to Tristan Peters, putting the Phillies in an early 2-0 hole.

Singles from Adolis Garcia and Kyle Schwarber put runners on first and third, and Garcia scored on a Trea Turner grounder to first base, giving Philadelphia a 3-2 lead.
Alec Bohm extended the advantage with a double to left field, driving in both Schwarber and Turner. Bohm was later tagged out trying to reach third base.
Randal Grichuk quickly responded for the White Sox with a leadoff home run in the top of the third inning, cutting the deficit to one run.
Adolis Garcia widened the margin again to 6-3 with his second home run in consecutive games.
However, Luzardo immediately surrendered another run when Grichuk hit his second solo homer of the night.
