Hongqi has unveiled the G919, a rugged off-roader that prioritizes power over aesthetics. Despite its polarizing design with an oversized grille, the SUV boasts impressive specs.
The G919 measures 202.1 inches long, 80.7 inches wide, and 76.7 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 114.1 inches.
It uses a traditional body-on-frame construction, essential for serious off-road capability.
Equipped with mechanical locking differentials at the front and rear, plus a center diff lock similar to the Mercedes G-Class, the G919 also features air suspension for enhanced off-road performance.
Powertrain and Performance
The G919 is built as an EREV, combining a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with four electric motors.
Total output is 831 hp and 973 lb-ft of torque.
With an electric motor at each wheel, the G919 offers precise torque adjustments for optimal traction. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
The battery pack size is undisclosed, but the G919 reportedly offers an all-electric range of 174 miles and a combined range of 839 miles.
Pricing has not been announced, but the G919 is expected to go on sale in the coming months.
