The Los Angeles Rams team physician is under investigation following a report that ties him to performance-enhancing drugs prescribed to a high-profile athlete.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has served as the Rams' doctor for two decades, is at the center of the probe.

The New York Times reported on June 11, 2026, that ElAttrache directed UFC fighter Conor McGregor to a specialist who subsequently prescribed banned substances.

The recommendation came after a 2021 bout where McGregor fractured both bones in his lower left leg. ElAttrache oversaw the corrective surgery.

Doctor's Defense

ElAttrache denied involvement in the prescription. "I purposely wasn't involved with his evaluation by the consultant nor with prescribing medication," he said.

He defended the referral as intended to optimize healing.

Expert opinions received by McGregor showed "he could optimize his chance of solid union and healing of his fractures," ElAttrache added.

The allegations threaten ElAttrache's standing. His clientele includes Shohei Ohtani, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Tom Brady.
