Ford has issued a new recall for more than 4,100 vehicles that were supposed to be fixed seven years ago but may still have blank dashboards.

The affected models include the Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Nautilus (formerly MKX), and Ford Mustang from the 2019 model year.

Missed Software Update

In February 2019, Ford recalled these vehicles due to a problem with the instrument panel going dark at startup.

The issue was traced to 2GB memory chips in the clusters.

Dealers were instructed to reprogram the cluster software.

However, service tool data in late 2024 revealed that many vehicles were marked as repaired but never actually received the update.

The follow-up recall covers 4,151 vehicles: 1,406 Lincoln Navigators built from November 4 to December 15, 2018; 943 Ford Mustangs built from November 5, 2018, to January 15, 2019; and 1,802 Lincoln Nautilus models (listed as MKX in documents) built from November 6 to December 21, 2018.

Ford will notify owners starting July 6 and ask them to visit a dealership for the software update.
