Texas Super Kings defeated Seattle Orcas by six wickets in the opening match of Major League Cricket 2026 at Grand Prairie Stadium on June 19.

Chasing 221 for victory, Texas reached 221 for 4 in 18.3 overs, led by captain Faf du Plessis's century.

Seattle Orcas had posted 220 for 2 in 20 overs, with Tim Seifert scoring 104 and Shayan Jahangir adding 78.

Du Plessis Leads Chase

Du Plessis said he enjoys playing in the American T20 tournament and remains committed to the Super Kings franchise.

“I really enjoy it. That's why I want to keep coming back,” he said.

He credited the powerplay batting for turning the game in Texas's favor after a strong start by Seattle.

“The way we went about the powerplay, that's where we really got back into the game,” Du Plessis added.

He also praised Nandre Burger's bowling performance under difficult conditions, calling it “match-changing.”

Orcas Look to Rebound

Seattle Orcas player Harmeet Singh acknowledged the dew affected bowling in the second innings.

“As the dew came in, it started sliding a little bit better,” he said.

Singh noted the team is still building chemistry and expects improvement as the tournament progresses.

“It's a little bit of a new group. Everybody's starting to know each other,” he said.

Major League Cricket continues with Los Angeles Knight Riders facing San Francisco Unicorns, followed by Seattle Orcas against Washington Freedom.
