Driving the No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, van Gisbergen posted a lap speed of 95.483 mph (75.029 seconds) during qualifying.

The road course specialist edged out teenager Brent Crews by 0.189 seconds to take the top spot on the starting grid.
Qualifying Highlights
Defending race winner Connor Zilisch experienced a tire pressure issue during his run, positioning him 30th for the upcoming event.
Taylor Gray led the second qualifying group with a speed of 94.947 mph to claim third on the grid, followed by Anthony Alfredo, Parker Retzlaff, and Corey Day.
Series leader Justin Allgaier, who holds a 224-point advantage over defending champion Jesse Love, qualified eighth.
Austin Green did not post a time after a brake failure caused his vehicle to crash into the Turn 11 tire barrier during practice.

Van Gisbergen previously won the Sonoma race in 2024 and finished as the runner-up last year.
