Severe thunderstorms forced officials to repeatedly halt festivities to ensure public safety.

An initial thunderstorm prompted a complete pause of the entire festival schedule earlier in the evening.

A second storm led to a partial shutdown, targeted specifically at outdoor attractions including the mainstage, the Ferris wheel, and high-altitude rides like the Symphonica and the Airborne.

Shelter Options and Continued Urban Festivities

Other urban festivities in the center of Assen continued uninterrupted during the second storm system.

Festival officials erected street signs warning of precipitation to guide anxious attendees toward designated shelter locations.

Organizers also recommended the local train station and hospitality venues as safe options to wait out the severe weather.

The national meteorological institute KNMI issued a nationwide warning for hazardous weather conditions, which extended to the Drenthe province.

A code orange weather alert remained in effect until 4:00 a. m.
