A major power outage struck central Lelystad on Sunday morning, leaving around 2,000 households without electricity and forcing local businesses to close temporarily.
The disruption began around 09:30 AM, according to grid operator Liander. It primarily affected residents in postal code sectors 8224, 8232, 8233, 8239, and 8245.

The blackout impacted several key roads and neighborhoods, including Apolloweg, Botter 11, Fivelingo, Florijnhof, Florijnstraat, Gordiaandreef, Het Ravelijn, Neringweg, Reaalhof, Visarenddreef, Ziekenhuisweg, Zilverparkkade, and parts of Grietenij and Tjalk.
Commercial operations faced immediate disruption. Retailers had to lock their doors and ask customers to leave.

A witness shopping at a supermarket in the Tjalk area told Omroep Flevoland: "Alle klanten moesten naar buiten" (All customers had to go outside).
Liander initially estimated full restoration by 11:45 AM.

However, emergency repair crews resolved the technical fault earlier than expected, restoring power to all affected households by 11:25 AM.
