A Life Dedicated to Laughter

Brooks reflected on his artistic purpose during director Judd Apatow's recent biographical documentary series broadcast on HBO Max.

"I was born to make people laugh. So, I do that," said Brooks.

The writer, director, and actor initially entered television as an uncredited writer for the NBC variety program The Admiral Broadway Revue in 1949.

This early position transitioned into official writing credits alongside Carl Reiner and Sid Caesar on the network's sketch series Your Show of Shows between 1950 and 1954.

Brooks expanded into television creation by co-developing the spy satire series Get Smart! in 1965.
